Durban Harbour

Written by
Image source: ICC In 1947,Vasco da Gama named the rather large river mouth 'Rio do Natal'. Durban harbour has since become the largest harbour in Africa and the ninth largest in the world. In early times, almost all the Bay was fringed with mangrove swamps, but unfortunately only a small patch now remains.
