SO WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? WHERE/HOW DID IT ALL START?
SURFING...SURFING...SURFING...and don't forget, SURFING!
Crowning surfing’s world champions since the early seventies, the
Mr Price Pro formerly known as the Gunston 500, captured the nation’s imagination with Shaun Tomson’s incredible six year winning streak from 1973 – 1978.
Twenty eight years later, it was
Durban’s Ricky Basnett (Bluff) who brought
South Africa out of the shadows, claiming an emphatic victory before thousands of supporters, ensuring the
Mr Price Pro would settle in the minds and hearts of all South African’s, as the greatest surfing competition on the African continent.
Congratulations!!!

"I knew it would be hard to catch Rebecca because they weren’t throwing out big scores today; you had to really work hard, even for a 7.00. I haven’t been surfing much at home and I feel like I improved with every heat and was feeling really confident by the Final," Carr said.

Khodr, who entered the event rated No. 25 on the WQS, defeated Fosters ASP World Tour No. 12 Jeremy Flores (Reunion) in the Final, jumping to an incredible third position on the WQS ratings whilst taking home a total of R111 000 (US$ 15000) in prize money.
“I can`t believe it; I tried so hard to win here! Everyone comes to win but this was my time. All my friends were here supporting me and my Dad made a big party for me at home, sending me lots of good energy from Brazil, this is like a dream come true!” Khodr said in broken English.
